Few Facts to Know about Ferrite Magnets

Do you know what a ferrite magnet is and what are its benefits? Well, ferrite magnets are found in their simplest form as they consist of iron oxide mixed with barium carbonate or strontium carbonate. These components are heated above 1000 degree Celsius temperature in the absence of air. After that, they are cooled and milled to a fine powder which is further compacted into a die and sintered at high temperature. And the resultant magnet is extremely hard and strong. However, magnets made from ferrite have a maximum flux density of 4,000 gauss approximately. There are many companies which manufacture ferrite magnet block and can be easily affordable.

Points to Consider When Buying Ferrite Magnet Block

Due to its low cost, ferrite magnets have huge applications. However, some facts are there which is to be considered when you are going to buy ferrite magnets. They are stated below:

1. Whether the ferrite magnet is soft or hard, it does not affect the hardness of the material.

2. A soft magnet has a low coercivity that’s why it is useful for alternating current applications such as high-frequency transformers and switched power supplies.

3. Hard ferrite magnets possess high magnetic permeability and a strong residual magnetic field, hence it is used in loudspeakers, DC motors, and so forth.

4. Ferrites are sintered so they can be molded into different shapes like blocks, discs, and rings.

5. They are not suitable at temperatures below zero, they may permanently lose their magnetism.

6. They do not require corrosion protection for outdoor use because they have corrosion- resistant property.

7. They are easy to handle because of their lower magnetic flux density.

Thus, these are the reasons why many companies buy ferrite magnets instead of expensive ones.

All About Ceramic Magnets

The ceramic magnet is the most popular material for making magnets. It is made by using powdered magnetic materials such as iron oxide and strontium carbonate. However, ferrites having a high magnetic absorption capacity are called ceramic magnet. It is also known as ferrite magnets. It has a stronger mass magnetic field as compared to iron. It usually appears in the shape of cubes, cylinders, motor arcs, etc. Hence, Due to its hard and brittle nature, they are commonly used for fridge magnets, loudspeakers, musical instruments, brakes, ornamental purposes, and so forth.

The Manufacturing Process of the Ceramic Magnets

1. The ceramic magnet is manufactured by using powder technology process.

2. Iron oxide and strontium carbonate are mixed together and then heated at temperature 1800 to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Due to this chemical process ferrite is produced.

3. And then the ferrite is reduced to the very small sized particle by using the wet milling method.

4. Then the milled powder is dried or injected into a die under large hydraulic pressure.

5. The wet powder is compacted in the presence of a magnetic field to remove the water after that sintering takes place at the temperature of 2000 degrees Fahrenheit approximately.

6. After sintering the material is fully dense and ready for grinding.

7. In the last, the grinding of ceramic magnets is done.

In the conclusion, the importance of ceramic magnets is increasing day by day in the industries. And with the increase in the number of technologies and researches the applications of it increases gradually under high temperature.

Buy Online Strong Ring Magnet in China

http://www.senmagnetics.com/products/Neodymium-ring-magnets.htm
China has been known for its efficient assembly line production of several products. But recently, Chinese researchers hit the headlines for building a magnet with the world’s strongest magnetic field. This development would help make huge advances in the field of medical scanning. The High Magnetic Field Laboratory at the Chinese Academy of Sciences was the place where this record-breaking magnet was created. The inner ring of this magnet was almost a meter in diameter and created a magnetic field of more than 10 Tesla.

The team that put together this China strong magnet now plans to create a hybrid magnet using this one, by putting a smaller but more powerful water-cooled magnet inside it. With the correct technical specifications for this combination, magnetic fields upwards of 45 Tesla could be targeted. There are some possible roadblocks in this plan, though. For instance, many metals lose their superconductivity at magnetic fields beyond 20 Tesla, and the metals could also crack and snap due to their inability to withstand the high stresses generated by magnetic fields of that intensity.

There are several reasons that researchers have been experimenting with the creation of strong magnetic fields. For instance, the miniaturization of cell phones has been made possible due to hitherto unknown properties of several materials becoming apparent when placed under huge magnetic fields. High magnetic fields are also being used by physicists to mold high-temperature superconductive materials which would help bullet trains to exceed the speed of sound. The major area of interest for high magnetic field materials is in medical science. The magnet created by Chinese researchers, for example, would be likely to help create more efficient MRI scanners, which would allow much better images to be produced in the scan, without harming the body whose scanned images are being produced.

Ceramic Magnet Disc Available with Distinct Features and Shapes

Ceramic magnets were first created in the 1960s in Japan (the story goes that they were accidentally created). They are made of a mix of 90% iron oxide and 10% strontium oxide/barium oxide. The reason they have gained wide popularity is that of their low cost, high resistance to corrosion, and permanent nature of magnetization. The common uses of ceramic magnets are in DC motors, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) machines, automotive sensors and magnetic separators. Because of the high thermal resistance, these magnets are suited for use in high-temperature environments.

The ingredients of ceramic magnets are added together in the correct proportion and superheated to temperatures in the range of 1800°F to 2000°F. Wet milling then minimizes the material to very small particulate matter, and after drying (or sometimes in the slurry form), it is put into a hydraulic press. Here the compaction takes place in the presence of a strong magnetic field when the water is mostly removed. The final stage is the grinding of the magnets as per customer specification.

Ceramic magnets are cast in different shapes – blocks, rings, and discs. A Ceramic magnet disc offers the following distinct features compares to other kinds of magnets:

  • Compared to alnico and rare earth magnets, they are very cheap.
  • The intrinsic coercive force is very high.
  • The service temperature is much lesser than alnico magnets but much higher than rare earth magnets.
  • They have lower energy than alnico and rare earth magnets.
  • Tooling can be a little expensive because of the need for diamonds due to the brittle nature.
  • Because of the corrosive nature, they are not advised to be used in load-bearing situations.

They will not rust because the raw material is already an oxidized form of iron. Hence they are highly resistant to corrosion.
